Last pacman -Syu extremely slowed the computer!

Hi since last Update (I made it yesterday I think) my computer became extremely slow! It shows strange error during boot (something with pcspkr) and very slow. Windows minimizing and maximizing, and multiple software running.
What can be done? Did some one else experiencing similar behavior?

Thanks!

Re: Last pacman -Syu extremely slowed the computer!

You could start by taking a look at *which* packages were upgraded that could cause some trouble (can be found in /var/log/pacman.log, if you don't remember); by looking at what error message you get when booting (run 'dmesg'); and by googling it, or using the forum search function.

Re: Last pacman -Syu extremely slowed the computer!

The only packages that could slow down the system are the kernel and nvidia drivers.

Anyway I checked some logs, here are the only suspect things I found:
dmesg

ACPI Warning (tbutils-0217): Incorrect checksum in table [OEMB] - 08, should be FB [20080926]
Warning! ehci_hcd should always be loaded before uhci_hcd and ohci_hcd, not after
8139cp 0000:02:05.0: This (id 10ec:8139 rev 10) is not an 8139C+ compatible chip, use 8139too

errors.log

Jan 19 18:25:23 WareWolf hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 2

And thats it. Also during boot I got messages that starts like: "No state is present for card pcsp" and another 2-3lines that I'm not fast enough to write.

Thanks for help again!

Try to blacklist snd_pcsp and pcspkr modules in /etc/rc.conf

MODULES=(!snd_pcsp !pcspkr)

Re: Last pacman -Syu extremely slowed the computer!

Thanks, seems like this fixed the boot up error!
Anyway about extreme slow, I downgraded nvidia drivers (and utils) to 173.14.12 and it seems to be more fast (or at least as it was before the 180.xx.yy), I can't tell that for sure right now since I didn't run the system long enough to notice some effect, so I leave the post open for now, and tomorrow if everything will be fine Ill mark it as solved.
Anyway If someone know the reason why last nvidia driver could cause this effect I would like to know.

Thanks everyone!
