[transcode] critical: failed to init encoder
I was trying to encode a video with xvid using transcode today, but it doesnt seem to work. I put /usr/lib in /etc/ld.so.conf and ran 'ldconfig', but it didnt help. Any suggestions?

many of transcodes' modules are busted right now divx, xvid, etc. right now i am using the built in ffmpeg options. i dunno if the maintainer is working on the bugs I filed long ago or not and i don't remember if xvid was one of my bugs or not.

Using xvid4 works.

Hi - hopefully not too off topic,
Could the xvidcore package please be updated to v1.02, it has been marked for a very long time now.
Thanks.

no it isn't off topic at all. the maintainer that was taking care of them when i last looked was robertoi and he is hardly ever around so i would file a bug report and maybe this issue will be addressed.
in the mean time you couold use abs to upgrade the package yourself.
