Personally i always thought cdrtools should be the supported one...

I second the sentiment. cdrkit caused me no end of troubles with blanking and erasing and costers. cdrtools worked just fine where cdrkit claimed my hw wouldn't support it.

After reading this, there are two options:
1. We start using the original software;
2. We hear what the other parties in this have to say (Debian, SuSE, RH-devs etc.)
Also: is UTF-8 now fully supported in the original cdrtools?

There's nothing stopping someone from applying as a TU and bringing cdrtools into [community] at least.
