The device: ID 072f:9000 Advanced Card Systems, Ltd ACR38 AC1038-based Smart Card Reader
The original driver: http://www.acs.com.hk/download/ACR38_LI … 9_P.tar.gz
The error: when running pcscd -a -d -f (the pcsc daemon with verbose debug logging), I get an Open Port 200000 Failed after the reader is detected. If I copy the driver found in Ubuntu, there are no more errors end everything works like a charm.
A possible solution: I tried downloading the ubuntu "orig" package and then tried patching it with the ubuntu attached "diff" file, but I'm surely doing something wrong, as it seems to only create some files but not modifying the driver source files. I need help on patching that source code and then I can probably create a package in AUR for the device driver.
The ubuntu patched files are on http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/libacr38u

I have the same problem with the original card driver.
After replacing the original driver by the one provided by Ubuntu the error (open port 200000 failed) was gone and the reader recognised my card when inserted.
