HP PSC doesn't work

Hi!

I have HP PSC 1513, up-to-date ArchLinux system and following packages:

hplip 2.8.10-2
CUPS 1.3.9-4
kernel26 2.6.28.2-1

The problem is that after some updates (I don't remember exactly when this problem came) printer stopped printing. I can create printing jobs, but they are always in state "processing since..." (as shown in CUPS web interface), printer does nothing. I got something in /var/log/messages.log:

Jan 26 21:23:27 Desktop usb 7-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2
Jan 26 21:23:27 Desktop usb 7-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
Jan 26 21:23:27 Desktop usblp1: USB Bidirectional printer dev 2 if 1 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x03F0 pid 0x4C11
Jan 26 21:23:27 Desktop usbcore: registered new interface driver usblp
Jan 26 21:23:27 Desktop load-modules.sh: 'usb:v03F0p4C11d0100dc00dsc00dp00icFFiscFFipFF' is not a valid module or alias name
Jan 26 21:23:27 Desktop load-modules.sh: 'usb:v03F0p4C11d0100dc00dsc00dp00icFFiscCCip00' is not a valid module or alias name

However, printing works fine from Windows. So this is not a hardware problem.

Re: HP PSC doesn't work

i have the same issue here with my HP Photosmart C3180.
Printing and scanning was working before. not anymore

i have the same error as FUF in /var/log/messages.log
and hp tools like hp-levels (or hp-toolbox) reports an error like that
error: Unable to communicate with device (code=12): hp:/usb/Photosmart_C3100_series?serial=MY716D32F804P9
error: Error opening device (Device not found). Exiting.

Re: HP PSC doesn't work

I have printed the test page successfully.

I added myself to allowed users in CUPS and

sudo chown -R fuf:lp /dev/bus/usb/*

I don't know about how bad this solution is, but it worked for me. And the problem seems to be another permission issue. Scanning works fine from root.
