Just upgraded to KDE 4.2. Great work Devs, beating all other distros to it and without any hassle (the kdebindings thingy is a minor detail)
I cannot seem to add google gadgets to Plasma, whereas I can with the Debian svn version. Am I missing something? I checked all KDE packages and seem to have everything. Also renamed my .kde4 and started with a blank one, but still no dice....

A bug??? It is not an upstream bug, since it works in Debian. I can simply select a Google gadget from a dynamically downloaded list. In Arch, I do not even get the option to install a Google gadget.

i have kdemod and there the "only" bug is what i described unless they have updated the packages and fixed it there

you need either google-gadgets or google-gadgets-qt; kdemod has the latter.

I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

google-gadgets-qt doesn't seem to give google gadgets integration to plasma, though - it's all still seperated...

I filed a bug for it and it has been recognised. I hope the devs are working on it....

I stand corrected - after installing google-gadgets-qt and running kbuildsycoca4, google gadgets (downloaded manually from google and then installed from file in plasma) work with nice plasma integration! yay!
on the other hand, google-gadgets-qt pulls in so many gnome dependencies that it's really not worth it. i thought that kde and gnome were supposed to be separate!

that's probably because of gstreamer..

Why so? I don't use the packages, just curious. GStreamer should have nothing to do (or little) with KDE/Gnome, as it's just an audio/video backend like Windoze DirectShow.

Look here :
http://repos.archlinux.org/viewvc.cgi/k … iew=markup
cmake ../${pkgname}-${pkgver} \
-DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release \
-DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr \
-DWITH_Xmms=OFF \
-DWITH_Googlegadgets=OFF \
-DWITH_QEdje=OFF
make || return
Googlegadgets is turned off in kdebase-workspace You should rebuild it if you want google gadgets support or install KDEmod.
