konqueror+flash

Well, on some sites, Flash stuff doesn't work all the time. A black or white box shows up where the flash should be, and when I right click it it even shows the Flash menu, but it stays blank. For some things (like Youtube) refreshing fixes it (on Youtube for a while I haven't needed to, but have before), but some sites it doens't fix it at all. Any ideas what's causing it? It works fine in Firefox. I have Konqueror 4.2.00 and the flashplugin (x86_64) from [extra]. I've had this problem lots on i686, other distros, and on older versions too, is there any fixes? "Use Firefox" doesn't count!!

Re: konqueror+flash

Konqueror sucks with flash. Use Opera instead, works perfect with flash.

Re: konqueror+flash

==> ERROR: opera-devel-qt4 is not available for the 'x86_64' architecture.
Note that many packages may need a line added to their ./PKGBUILD
    such as arch=('x86_64').

And I have never found QT4 builds of Opera for x86_64. QT3 builds look like crap no matter what for me, and even the 32 bit Qt4 ones don't look too good either. I want to use Konqueror, not an alternative, as I said already tongue

This guide's a year old, and likely for KDE3, but it works great for me actualy big_smile No midifications needed, except libflashplayer is locaded somewhere else. Yay big_smile http://mikearthur.co.uk/2007/12/konquer … ash-howto/

Re: konqueror+flash

Open Konqueror. Go to Settings / Configure Konqueror / Plugins / Ptugins (tab), here click on 'Scan for Plugins' button. /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so should be found. Apply & OK. Restart Konqueror if needed.

Re: konqueror+flash

Actually if he have the flash menu it means that libflashplayer.so is already loaded.
I have the same problem as the OP. Just that konqueror is my 2nd browser and opera QT3 my first wink (well I'm a bit of opera fanboy so ...) flash64 never fails on opera, maybe you can try to edit the pkgbuild, add x86_64 for the arch and try to build it, report back your results.

Could you pleasse try running it from a terminal and see if there's any relevant message?

Re: konqueror+flash

I can confirm flash not working properly in konqueror atm. Let me assure you tho, that it works perfectly in kde 4.3 svn smile

Re: konqueror+flash

I'd do more testing for you but:
a. Firefox is currently my default browser (using Openbox not KDE right now)
b. With the link I posted Flash works almost perfect in Konqueror

Glad to hear it works with 4.3 though big_smile
