Is possible to divide screen?

Is possible to divide screen in 2 independent areas? I want to watch film in 1st area and to play game in 2nd area at the same time. cool It should be like 2 virtual desktops but both of them should appear at the same time.

It seems, this is the only possible solution.

Re: Is possible to divide screen?

KDE 4's "zoom" feature and desktop activities? Although I don't think you can interact with your apps while zoomed-out...

Or... Just moving/resizing two windows so that one is above the other? big_smile

That's an interesting idea. I've never seen anything like it though.

Your aspect ratio would be messed up badly stretching out the game and movie like that tongue

Re: Is possible to divide screen?

You could use Xnest, some vnc implementation, or a virtual machine to run two desktops on the same screen, I reckon.

Re: Is possible to divide screen?

any tiling window manager can tile windows this way (or almost any other way you can think of)

Re: Is possible to divide screen?

Back when I used compiz, I watched movies and made my game (quake3) transparent over the top. It worked surprisingly well. big_smile

It works better if you have a monitor that can rotate.
