[SOLVED (more or less)]A minor annoyance in ratpoison:

Hey, I've recently been using ratpoison after sticking with fluxbox for years, and I have most things how I'd like them, with the exception of one:

I can't get urxvt to take up the entire screen. As you can see in this screenshot, it takes up most of the space, but there is a strip on the far right that is uncovered. Every other app uses the screen space as intended, but urxvt and xterm have this issue. Even when I split the screen into halves, this "unused" strip on the right is still in urxvt's half, wasting valuable screen space.

It's not a really big deal, but I'm somewhat OCD about stuff like this, and it is starting to get on my nerves. If somebody who knows ratpoison better than I do could lend a hand, that would be great. Thanks!

By the way, here is my .ratpoisonrc file. I'm sorry that it's already so messy.

alias term exec urxvt
bind c exec urxvt
escape Super_R
exec xsetroot -cursor_name left_ptr
exec fbsetbg /home/rael/Picture/desktops/Cool/Farm.jpg
startup_message off
set border 0
defborder 0
set padding 0 0 0 0
defbarpadding 0 0
bind t time
bind a exec thunderbird
bind g exec gedit
bind x exec thunar
bind z exec amarok
bind f exec firefox
bind l exec xlock
alias showroot exec ratpoison -c fdump; ratpoison -c 'select -' -c only
alias unshowroot exec ratpoison -c "frestore `cat $HOME/.rpfdump`"
bind d showroot

Re: [SOLVED (more or less)]A minor annoyance in ratpoison:

Why is there a small gap between my terminal and the edge of the screen?

(Most) terminals won't display partial lines, so unless your screen dimensions divide exactly into the font size, you'll get a gap. Centering the window with :gravity or :defwingravity may be more attractive. You can also set color of the root window to match the background color of your terminal.

Aww, that's too bad. Oh well. Thanks for the answer.

can you make the picture smaller? The rules in the screenshot thread apply throughout the forum.
also mine doesnt have any gaps. the problem is with your .ratpoisonrc
im guessing something to do with the gravity settings

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)
