Saving Sessions

Hello,

Despite enabling "Automatically remember running applications when logging out" in Gnome nothing appears to be restored when logging back in.  Additionally should this save applications running in multiple work spaces?

I'm..... not sure this is actually imlemented in gnome 2.24.  I remember reading something about this...... hmmmm I might be wrong.
