New intel driver breaks KDE 4.2 icon tray (system notification tray)

Hey everybody,

I installed KDE 4.2 (from KDEMod), and the icon tray is broken. The line of code in my xorg.conf that breaks the tray is:

Option "AccelMethod" "exa"
Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy"

If I change "greedy" to "all", the icon tray is fixed, but the desktop effects are very lagging. I tried this with the non-KDEMod packages, and the same issue occured (which is why this post is on the Arch forum, and not the KDEMod forum).

Thanks for the help!

AFAIK it's a known Qt problem when compoziting is enabled.
There's a bug in the KDE bug tracking system.

I think this is it http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158094

This is not my problem. The problem is that all icons in the system tray are not even shown. They appear as black boxes and are unusable.

The intel driver is just buggy. :-)

This is true. Is there any way I can fix the desktop effects without using this option?

http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 95#p492095 or supposedly kdemod also has a beta/rc release? switch beta1 with rc1 in the instructions btw..
