xrandr why xorg virtual screen size limitation to 2048 x 2048 for i945

Hi i am wondering why has i945 2048x2048 Virtual screen size limitation (with active DRI) ....why i can't choose 4096 x 1024, because 4096 x 1024 = 2048 x 2048 it must consume same amount of video memory! Is there any patch, workaround or something, which will allow me to use dualhead for 1280x800 and 1920x1080 displays left/right of each other?

It's a hardware limit in the chip..
They seem to be working on a workaround but I wouldn't bet on it (http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10479).
