fluxbox and home folder permissions

Hi all,
I'm fighting with a very strange problem. Fluxbox is not working properly.
gnome and kde start correctly, fluxbox, seems to start, but only conky appears, no bars! I added -log /home/mioutente/.fluxbox/log to the exec fluxbox command in .fluxbox/startup, and I get this messages:

------------------------------------------
Log File: /home/virus/.fluxbox/log
Fluxbox version: 1.1.1
Compiled: Sep 20 2008 06:14:43
Compiler: GCC
Compiler version: 4.3.2

Defaults:
    menu: /usr/share/fluxbox/menu
   style: /usr/share/fluxbox/styles/bloe
    keys: /usr/share/fluxbox/keys
    init: /usr/share/fluxbox/init
     nls: /usr/share/fluxbox/nls

Compiled options (- => disabled):
-DEBUG
EWMH
GNOME
IMLIB2
NLS
REMEMBER
RENDER
SHAPE
SLIT
TOOLBAR
XFT
XINERAMA
XMB
XPM

------------------------------------------
Error: Couldn't connect to XServer

I can't understand why!! I'll appreciate some suggestion... sad

Re: fluxbox and home folder permissions

Does a menu appear when you click with the rmb on the desktop? Do you see your wallpaper (if you have one)?
And why is your question titled fluxbox and home folder permissions?? I can't see any problems with access permissions.

Re: fluxbox and home folder permissions

Try exec startfluxbox in ~/.xinitrc.  IIRC exec fluxbox doesn't read ~/.fluxbox/startup, whereas exec startfluxbox does.

Re: fluxbox and home folder permissions

I have a similar issue since a few days ago.
fluxbox now only loads as root when triggered with "exec startfluxbox", but not as user.
Both xfce4 and lxde load fine.
The home folder permissions are OK.

because...the problem appears the first time after I copied my whole home directory on an external hd...so i thought it was a permission problem. I'm sorry...I should have left this events...after last post change.

I solved reinstalling my system, I thought I made some strange experiment and it was not working because of those.

I really don't know what should be the problem...I'm sorry if i'm answering so late...but some days ago my laptop died...(dell xps m1330) and it's more than 4 days I'm waiting for technical support sad)

I hope there would be a feasible solution to this problem!

Thanks
