I'm using KDE4.2. I have the screensaver set to start after 15 minutes, and have the screen set to suspend in 25 minutes. This never happens. The screen will just keep showing the screensaver forever. I have apicd started and it still doesn't work. Is there anywhere I can start looking for a solution?
Note: This is on my desktop. My laptop works fine and suspends the screen. I can't detect any difference in their settings or installed software, but maybe I am missing something?

Check your display setup in KDE system settings. There's a power management module. Honestly I don't understand why there is such thing when powerdevil is supposed to care care of that...

If I let powerdevil handle it my monitor never suspends, setting it in the display setup it works. Kdemod here.

Same here... We should probably file a bug, unless it is related to this one: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=179144

I'll poke around and give those suggestions a try.

Are you guys setting this in the right place?
System Settings > Advanced > Power Management > Edit Profiles > Screen
Match the settings to the profile you use. Works for me.

OK, I've checked all the places to configure this stuff that was discussed in this thread. I've went through every Wiki I could find and checked everything that seemed feasible. My laptop works just fine, but the desktop just won't suspend the monitor. The screen saver comes on like it should, but it will not blank/powersave.
Does anyone else have their LCD monitor entering powersave mode using KDE 4.2 and Arch64? I can post screenshots of the stuff I've set up if need be. I just don't get it -- I can't figure out why it doesn;t work. I wonder if it's some sort of "policykit" issue?

Oh, note that running:
xset dpms force standby
will make the monitor blank. That makes me assume it's not a permissions problem. I have "Option = 'DPMS'" in the monitor section of my xorg.conf file.

Not sure if this is related since I use kde3 and fluxbox. One of the first things I did was dissable kde's screensaver and power managment. Then I setup Xscreensaver to handle the screensaver and suspend. Has always worked like a charm. Maybe you can try this with kde4?
