System kde upgrade completed today..
The kmail crashes and there is no access to kwikdisk so cannot access additional hard drives.
There may be other failures not yet encountered.
Anyone have a similar problem?
Prediction...This year will be a very odd year!

did you logout then in? perhaps the $PATH for your kde stuff needs to be reset which logging out then in should accomplish.

I also had several problems upgrading to kde 3.3 . I noticed that there was problems with the x-server as I got a bad display message when I started programs like gimp. Twice the system would block with the screen flashing when it tried to start the x-sever.
There are also files that are not installed. And if they get installed, pacman -Qo says that they don't belong to any package. Examples kdvi, kcron and the kolourpaint package. I have downgraded pacman but same problem
After upgrading/downgrading a few times, I am currently with a broken kde 3.2 . It still works but the control panel is empty.
I will eventually do a pacman -R kde to clean my system followed by pacman -S kde.
That might do the trick.

Sounds like a winner...-R kde and then -S kde. Certainly the most logical.
Some forum responses suggest using a different mirror for the download as well. That might be the real solution. Doing both should be doubly good if the mirror is selected is good!!!
Good luck!!

Problem solved...
Entered pacman -RD kde to remove kde.
Entered pacman -Sy kde to re-install kde...
Both the missing elements were restored to normal..
