[SOLVED]Ristretto not working as default application for images

Hey there!
I have a little problem, witch i couldn't resolve, so i'm trying my luck here.
My problem is that all image files are opening with GIMP and i want to change it to open them as default with Ristretto.

*I've tryed to select Ristretto and check out the box named "Use as default for this kind of application" in "Open with other application" but nothing changed, images still open with GIMP

*I've edited /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache and changed all image file associated lines to ristretto, and now nothing opens the files as default
example:
image/jpeg=ristretto.desktop;
image/png=ristretto.desktop;
image/bmp=ristretto.desktop;

I thought ristretto.desktop file is missing but it isnt, i've located it in /usr/share/applications/

I have no idea what to do with this little problem.
With respect,
dvl

EDIT: damn, i've forgot that if its cache than i need to restart :s After i did a restart, its working
Sorry for abuse :[ I didnt delete the post because maybe some1 finds usefull info.

Re: [SOLVED]Ristretto not working as default application for images

Restart? Linux? Nevar! A reboot is never necessary except for a kernel update (and, if 24/7 reliability is critical, it can be avoided even then!) big_smile

I don't have experience with MIME cache, but I'm guessing login/logout or at most killing X and starting it again would fix the problem.

EDIT: Just use 'update-mime-database' wink

update-mime-database /usr/share/mime
update-desktop-database /usr/share/applications
