MySQL Book for New DBA Admin

Hello All,

As part of my new job I am being asked to learn MySQL Database Administration for performance tuning and general tasks. As I'm new to the whole Database Administration I was hoping for some advice on a good book to buy that will get me from beginner to a more appropriate level. Any advice on webpages or other tutorials is also welcome so don't be shy.

Cheers in advance.

Re: MySQL Book for New DBA Admin

There are some good books out there that will help you learn the basics. The one from O'Reilly "Learning MySQL" is pretty good. Here's the Amazon.com link to it.

You can download the reference manual from Sun here: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/#refman
You can read it online here: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/index.html
It includes a tutorial.

There are a LOT of online resources for MySQL. It is such a widely used program that you can find answers to most any question you might have with a bit of searching.
