Mouse and keyboard not working in X

I just installed using the 2009.2 ftp cd.  I ran X --configure and tested X using the created config.  The mouse   will not move and  CRTL-ALT-BKSP does not kill the X session.  I have a USB mouse and keyboard.

Is there a way to test X for a few seconds and then have X quit so I don't have to resort to the power button when I want to further test X

Re: Mouse and keyboard not working in X

You should start the hal daemon before entering X, if you installed Arch 2009.02.

I hade same problem - just runned xorgconfig and after that runned nvidia-xconfig and now everything works great. So in your case just go through xorgconfig.
