Porblem Shutting down my Archlinux pc

Hi,

I recently installed archlinux on my old pc, I got everything up and running perfectly,
But I have one problem,

after using the shutdown or poweroff command the pc starts shutting down, but keeps on with the message power down/off..
I tried installing the acpi package and acpid, but it didn't help.
Can anyone give me a clue?
I'm using an Asus A7S333 mainboard with a athlon xp 1700+ cpu, which should have no problem with acpi as far as I know.

Thanks,

Bartus

What happens if you just press the computer button, does the machine turn off, or do you have to hold it in?

# gpasswd -a %USERNAME% power

And then, re-login your user.
Does it help?

I'm allready in group password, do I also have to use that command for the root?

When I press the power button after using the poweroff command it turns itself off, but only after a second or so, I don't need to hold the button
