KDE 4.2 file associations: kwrite vs. kate

Hi guys,

is there a way to make KDE 4.2 prefer kate over kwrite without manually setting hundreds of file associations? I just want to put kate on top of the list with all file associations which have kate and kwrite assigned. By default kwrite is on top of the list.

TIA,
Blackhole

Re: KDE 4.2 file associations: kwrite vs. kate

dirty hack (not tested): rename /usr/bin/kwrite and create a symlink to kate with this name instead

Yup, that's very dirty. ;-) Any other ideas?

Another one: add an option to file associations with file type *.* (within "text") and set kwrite as the app to run on left click

Ah, that sounds promising... I'll try that. Thanks a lot.
