Hy,
I`m a newbie in ArchLinux and I`m having problems with Compiz-fusion`s install. I try install Compiz-fusion(# pacman -S compiz-fusion # pacman -S compiz-fusion-gtk # pacman -S compiz-fusion-kde), but when I run "fusion-icon" the terminal is white and toolbar (where we can close, maximize or minimize) disappears. But when a run metacity --replace the Gnome back to normal, but compiz's effects is disabling.
I readed the wiki - Compiz-fusion and I follow it, but I failed. Always gnome is the terminal is white and toolbar (where we can close, maximize or minimize) disappears when a try run compiz-fusion...
I don't know that do.
If you can help me...I thanks!

Install a decorator (emerald or compiz-decorator-gtk). Disable metacity composite capability (/apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager) with gconf-editor. Try again.

Well, I'm noob, I'm having trouble finding this directory. I'm found ~/.gconf/apps/metacity/general but I didn't find compositing_manager. What do I do?

There's a gui you can bring up with the command gconf-editor (it's somewhere in a menu too, but I'm not on gnome right now and forgot exactly what it's called). It will have a directory hierarchy like bwalk said and you should be able to find the setting there.

I tryed gconf-editor but the terminal says: command not found

When I try run "metacity --replace", "emerald --replace" or "gtk-window-decorator --replace" appears in terminal
" Xlib: extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display ":0.0". "...I try anyways that I know run compiz-fusion, but anyone don't work right. When I install gnome I used "pacman -S gnome gnome-extra"

Do this:
Create /usr/share/applications/compiz.desktop containing the following:
[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Compiz
Exec=compiz ccp
NoDisplay=true
# name of loadable control center module
X-GNOME-WMSettingsModule=compiz
# name we put on the WM spec check window
X-GNOME-WMName=Compiz
Load gconf-editor then browse within it to /desktop/gnome/session/required_components/ and change the windowmanager entry to compiz
Logout, log back in and that should fix it (it did for me) Provided of course that you have selected Emerald through the Fusion Icon at some point?
