boot time for ext4 HDD

Boot time for my 20GB HDD with ext4 2009.02 installed with kde4 is 85 seconds.

Boot time for kde4 within that boot-time period takes 45 seconds with two akonadi server searches clicked off after the search completes(twice!).

It seems that kde4 adds a large segment to boot and akonadi doesn't start correctly(missing components).

Any other user have this problem?

Use bootchart to obtain a more... scientific... map of your PC boot process

Posted figures are for the system derived from 2009.02 USB.img and express real-world values for boot-time.

The akonadi server search has been encountered in three separate x86-64 installs and represents missing package items in kde4(as reported by the akonadi server,  the search sometimes repeated three times).

This post reports the results obtained from an install of the latest usb.img and the akonadi search is a slow moving search device and repeats on this machine twice during boot procedures on the desktop and is the primary cause of excess boot-time since the boot is not over until it has finished two searches.

This seems to be a problem with kde4 since akonadi is not an archlinux package.

Am I the only user having this problem?

Kde4 was installed via ....pacman -S kde...

Correct?

To clarify the data being discussed, the akonadi server problem occurs in x86-64 ext3 HDD with kde4 installs as well.

This further ensures it is a kde4 problem , quite probably with missing elements in akonadi.

The fact that it searches every time desktop is reached and does it two or three times is irritating. 

What it does for kde4 is immaterial, the fact that it isn't correctly installed with ...pacman -S kde.... is material.

Latest upgrade this date has not changed the performance of archlinux ext4 x86-64 as to akonadi server search upon boot-up.

The boot time from grub to final Desktop ready (following the akonadi server search) is 1 minute and 50 seconds.

Upgrade to kde4 elements did not improve the akonadi performance.

Most problems after upgrades are solved by later upgrades but in this case it did not happen.

Akonadi is a kde4 component and seems to be defective.
