Latest kernel with nvidia freezes system

I just filed bug report: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/13451

Does this happen to anybody else? I can't say if same happens on 686. Suggestions are welcome.

Gnome -> Openbox -> Awesome -> XMonad -> dwm .

Re: Latest kernel with nvidia freezes system

Not on my system. I don't play games that much and don't have any installed at the moment to test. I can run OpenGL apps OK and just tried running Windows XP in a kvm vm. Seems OK.

$ uname -a
Linux mercury 2.6.28-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Feb 22 11:00:30 CET 2009 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
$ pacman -Q | grep nvidia
nvidia 180.22-1
nvidia-utils 180.22-1

I'm on AMD and using a Geforce 8600 GT.

Re: Latest kernel with nvidia freezes system

I just

upgraded nvidia-beta (180.29-1 -> 180.35-1)

- immediatelly almost all stoped working
so I went back to 29 and all is ok

13:18:06 papio@baboon:/var/log$ uname -a
Linux baboon 2.6.28-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Feb 21 11:16:52 EET 2009 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
