SATA controller not working. - [SOLVED]

I'm trying to get a SATA Seagate 1.5TB drive working with the Rosewill RC-210 SATA controller, since my motherboard does not have integrated SATA.

Controller Specs
http://www.rosewill.com/products/460/productDetail.htm

HD specs
http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?v … ee0a0aRCRD

I have tried a fresh install of Arch, there are no more options available in the BIOS to fiddle with regarding SATA, and lspci doesn't show the controller as recognized at all.

I can provide any other relevant details or output. The computer is a homebuilt desktop, and already has two IDE hard-drives connected and working properly. I just would like to be able to use the 1.5TB sata drive as well.

update: After fiddling with drivers and the kernel and firmware and RPMs, the problem turned out to be a detection issue with PCI. Removing all my PCI Cards and trying different arrangements led to the kernel magically detecting both controller and drive.

If anyone is reading this post, please note that the Silicon Image controller and 1.5TB seagate drive work pretty much flawlessly on a standard Arch install as long as the PCI is detected properly, so if you're having problems, it should work eventually.

Cheers.

Re: SATA controller not working. - [SOLVED]

Nobody has any theories on SATA controller detection?
