Has anyone had any experience or success with hooking 32bit clients/applications into a 64bit jack server? According to the Jack documentation it is possible but I have had no such luck with archlinux. I have tried manually copying the (i686) 32bit Archlinux jack libraries into /opt/lib32/usr/lib (which as far as I can see is what most lib32-* packages do..) but it causes Renoise to crash when loading the jack libraries. I have also tried different version of jack & different 32bit libs from different distros - all with no joy.
All I can hope for is when the jack-audio-connection-kit package is updated in the repos it will resolve this problem..

No one had luck with it? Because it means no wine and no skyype sound :S

A chroot should work, it does with pulseaudio for me. Have not tried JACK specifically, only use that for recording (no 32-bit apps there).

Have you installed alsa-plugins? It provides compatibility driver, which works quite well in skype (bin32-skype-staticqt) and in wine. Apart from epic unstability of JACK (here it crashed after 2-3 hours of listening to music), I had no problems with it on my x86_64 system.

my friend, can you post your ".asoundrc"?
i can't get it to work here
alsa-jack plugin is working fine with outer programs, only with skype I get an error-message.
I selected "jack" as the output in skype-preferences - when I start to make a call I get: "there is a problem with the reprodution"
EDIT: what samlplerate do you use in jack?
EDIT2: are you using jack1 or jack2?

I am using asound.rc recomeded from alsa-wiki and other softs work with it. so I cant really imagine what the problem is
pcm.!default {
type plug
slave { pcm "jack" }
}
ctl.mixer0 {
type hw
card 1
}
# pcm type jack
pcm.jack {
type jack
playback_ports {
0 system:playback_1
1 system:playback_2
}
capture_ports {
0 system:capture_1
1 system:capture_2
}
}
I am still hoping for some help in this forum where I allready was helped before

so, the only solution seams to be snd-aloop: http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/Jack_ … ack_bridge

Really, looks like main problem was in lib32-alsa-plugins. It IS required for Skype. I've used asound.conf from Arch Wiki, and after reboot it worked ok for me.

damn, that's it......wasn't even thinking of that, since the plugin was working with other softs (wich now makes sense).
