32bit chroot wine with 3d support?

Hello all,

I've been trying to get EverQuest II working with wine since I installed Arch a few months ago. The lib32 dependant wine versions available on the AUR immediately error out due to a lib32 issue and crashes as soon as I run the game. I have tried to come across a solution, but no one seems to be having a similar issue.

I've setup a 32bit chroot according the wiki and I have installed wine into it and Catalyst-utils to get over some of the X server errors wine was giving me. Problem is, I have no direct rending in the 32bit enviornment and all I get for any 3d games is a black screen. I hear music, and can mouse over buttons in the game and hour the roll-over sound effect. It is a lot of progress since EverQuest2 would previously crash immediately, but I was curious if there was any way to get 3d acceleration working on a 32bit chroot enviornment.

I have tried numerous times to get it working by performing similar steps that I had done to my original Arch64 installation, but no matter how I configure it I still get the same errors or worse. I have also tried to use 'schroot -p wine' to run it, but it still gives me the same 3d issue.

My main quest is, is it possible to achieve 3d acceleration in a a 32bit chrooted enviornment and run it? If so, how?

It works just fine with my nvidia card. It is important that the catalyst packages in the chroot and normal setup are of the same version!

Re: 32bit chroot wine with 3d support?

That might be the problem. My amd64  normal setup has 8.12 version catalyst (which seems to be the newest on pacman?) and my amd32 chroot and 9.2.

Is there any way I can either use older drivers on the amd32 chroot or use more up date drivers on my amd64?

check AUR for the newer ones... or perhaps try and build  your own PKGBUILD if you want to downgrade and the tar.gz files are not in your pacman cache

Re: 32bit chroot wine with 3d support?

I can't find any package to match either my 64bit/32bit versions on aur or anywhere else. I'll try to make an 8.12.3 catalyst 32bit package I suppose.

I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the help!

EDIT: I'm afraid it didn't work out so well. Does anyone know where I can get the 32bit catalyst 8.12.3 package or some way to downgrade the catalyst version on my 32bit setup to match my 64bit?
