How often do they synchronize this mirror with archlinux.org ?
BTW I'm using belnet as my primary mirror for sf.net and it works great.

There's also a very fast mirror in the Netherlands.

Are you using wget with pacman or pacman alone? I'm asking because some mirrors I tried seem to not like wget really. I guess it's because they have some connection limits (one connection from one ip at a time I think) and wget is just too fast :-) (mirror thinks it's a second connection and refuses to login). Or is it something else?
I had this problem while browsing belnet with web browser and trying to run pacman -Syu at the same time. Once I closed browser I could synchronize current but not extra and unstable :-(
If I switch to archlinux.org I can synchronize without problems (sometimes it happens for tur archive - I have all of them enabled - but it's quite rare so I can live with it).

normally i use pacman internal procedure

some times i use wget, but with elementary config

XferCommand = /usr/bin/wget -c %u

what you can try is to choose other mirrors for different repos

I'll try to investigate it soon in detail but I suspect it's about wget and not closing ftp connections fast enough (or not properly, or it's about my wireless internet connection which becames very poor from time to time) because same config works for some other mirrors.

I don't really like the idea of mixing different mirrors for current, unstable and extra :shock: With my luck it will only create one big mess ;-)

BTW about belnet mirror: synchronization twice a day is quite nice 8)

not sure, but i would guess 3gb should be enough (current is about 600mb and extra about 1500 last time i had a full copy on my hdd) + it can grow a little

if you tell wget to download more than one file (wget URL1 URL2 ...), then it will try to "reuse" the connection to this host normally (this makes sense) --- this can be maybe your problem

e.g. if i sync a dir from another computer, i do

wget ftp://___.___.___.___/~damir/{uni,webdev,photos}/*

what will copy all my files at a high speed saying between files "reusing existing connection to ___.___.___.___" (or something like that)

maybe some providers do not support this

Yes, I know that but pacman doesn't seem to use this wget feature. I can see that it logs in to every mirror even if it's on the same server (this is also true for tur and when you have all of them enabled it takes more time to log in than to download db files :-)). It is ok because as you mentioned it doesn't force you to use one mirror for all repos but probably makes some serves think that I'm trying to open a second connection because the first one was still not closed.
Ok I'm too tired to check it better today so it will have to wait. Thanks for response.

Got errors while installing the kernel with this mirror.

I don't, and I've been using this mirror for every single distro I have tried. It's the network that connects all Dutch university's at HIGH speed.
