XFCE shutdown just logs out

Hello everybody, after a few hours i got XFCE working with the SLiM login manager, but when i click the shutdown or reboot icon it just logs out and shows the login screen again. I tried both the daemon and inittab method for SLiM. I have verified that i am a member of the power group. I also tried this:

What used to work for me when I used Xfce was to add a line to the /etc/sudoers file as root:

%shutdown ALL=(root) NOPASSWD: /usr/lib/xfce4/xfsm-shutdown-helper

After doing that the shutdown and restart buttons show up when you quit.  Or at least it used to work that way.

Edit: Duh... and of course you would have to add yourself to a group called shutdown in /etc/group.

Do you have HAL running, and if so, are you using ck-launch-session in your .xinitrc?

yeah I had to put that in my .xinitrc too

instead of exec startxfce4

put exec ck-launch-session startxfce4

Okay thank you guys it works correctly now. But it just shows the terminal one login screen instead of console output of what it is shutting down, is that normal?

Never mind, I solved it by using the inittab method again instead of daemon. Thanks a lot!

The problem is back. I just enabled "allow xfce to manage desktop" and i added conky to the list of autostarted applications. In fact the problem is even worse, because i doesn't even show the login/reboot/shutdown window anymore.
