wimax devices on linux

I'm currently living in one of the first US cities to start deploying wimax internet services, and I've been wondering if there is support for the USB adapters under linux. I have yet to get my hands on one to test with ($130 is a lot to throw down on service+device if you dont know if its going to work) , but i was hoping perhaps some other archers might already have tried out the usb devices. The ones they sell here are by Motorola.

Re: wimax devices on linux

As far as I know wimax support for Linux will only be available with kernel 2.6.29, which hasn't been released yet. It will be released in about 3 weeks, so unless you plan to build a RC yourself, it won't work right now.

No idea if those USB adapters will work once 2.6.29 is out, but I wouldn't bet $130 on it unless you have an easy option to return it and get the money back.

Maybe someone has already experienced with it and can tell you more.
