i have always just used fam untill i just heard about gamin (accidentally stumbled across it in the wiki)
what are the advantages/disadantages of using gamin instead of fam

The only one I know is that gamin doesn't use daemon, and that's because I heard it on the wiki, too...

If you use thunar, gamin is vastly superior. Otherwise you won't be able to use sshfs or other remote filesystems.

yes i read the wiki, but it seems to be lacking in information, so i figured i would ask some people who have tried it
anyway it looks like i might just be better off with fam, because i use thunar for one user, but i use pcmanfm with my other user
so far i have not had any problems with fam so i guess its not worth fixing something that isnt broken
