Major problem with Xorg on Medion akoya E1210 / MSI wind

Hello,

i just installed the current archlinux on my netbook. It works fine so far, however X freezes no matter what configuration or driver i use (vesa or intel). I tried all ways of configuration mentioned in the wiki. Essentially X loads up and freezes (no keyboard & mouse input, can't switch back to console). The Intel Chipset is the GME945. I do not think it is a hardware issue, because it worked on OpenSuSE with the intel driver and on FreeBSD 7.0 with the VESA driver. I know this doesn't really help at all with debugging, but i am out of ideas how to figure this out. I checked /var/log/X**.log, but that doesn't give any Errors. Does anyone have an idea to go further from here or does anyone have a working xorg.conf for this type of netbook (it should be the same as the MSI Wind Netbook). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, because archlinux seems to fit the bill of what i need in a linux distribution exactly.

Last time I was having same problems configuring X server after fresh installation with xorgconfig, which had worked fine on previous installations. I found instructions on wiki for X configuration using command hwd, which helped me. Take look on wiki and try configuring Xorg using hwd: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg.

Tried hwd as well, no difference :-(, i will post the log though in a few, maybe you guys can more of it than me.

On my MSI Wind U100 and I don't have a xorg.conf file, I use hotplugging. Try it.

I had that problem. But X doesn't actually crash, it is just that the touchpad/keyboard is not working.

Everything gets solved in my case once I install xf86-input-synaptics. Make sure you install that even if your wind doesn't have a synaptics touchpad. The new auto-detection of xorg seems to act strange if you don't have the synaptics package.

I suggest you don't edit .fdi files that the wiki suggests because that creates a mess. You better do everything you need from xorg.conf editting.

Also in my experience with MSI Wind, hwd is problematic. Just use "X -configure" and start from there with the xorg.conf.

I had the exact same problem with my MSI Wind, and this was actually pretty much the biggest factor preventing me from really investing into Arch Linux on the netbook.  I was fairly certain I had the sentellic trackpad, so I didn't think to install the synaptics driver.
