so after the update, i was faced with an unfamiliar menu. after reading it was new and had a new menu xml file, i jumped right in, assumed they had made it backwards compatible, and overwrote the menu file with my old menu file from ~/.config/...../menu.xml
needless to say its broken, and i cant find a template to put back there to fix it. i've tried the wiki here, and the xfce documentation, and google, and theres plenty of info on customisation, but no template.
(preferably) is there something i can add, or do, to my old menu file to make it compatible with the new menu? (i liked my old one very much)
or alternatively, is there a template floating around i can use?

Oh, that's because there is no template. See http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=66674

I am not sure if that's what you mean, but the "menu template" is in/etc/xdg/menus/xfce-applications.menu . Only that it is not a xml file and editing it will not give the same results as in 4.4, please see the wiki page mentioned in the other thread for details.

ahh well...its back to normal now...after reinstalling xfce...
thanks anyway
edit: yeah, i've worked out how to edit it JUST how i like now
edit: also, is it possible to put an absolute path inbetween filename tags like: <Filename>/home/user/file/someapp</Filename> or is it strictly relative to /usr/share/applications?

on another note, is there anyway to go back to the old xml menu?
the new one is just too hard to customise...the old one was straitforward. not counting the menu editor, the file format was simple and contained.
