Download updates from other local computers? [SOLVED]

Hello there,

I've got 3 i686 computers running Arch at home (different specs). Each of them is used for different purpose (1 is KDE, 1 is XFCE, 1 is a server), so they have different packages installed, but they surely have some packages in common.

I usually update the 3 of them at the same time.

I wonder if there's a way for pacman to pick updated packages on other computers. That would prevent some common packages to be downloaded several times from official mirrors. I would likely get shorter download times as well.

Take an example:
Let's say I update my KDE computer: there's a whole lot of KDE packages to be downloaded, CUPS and kernel, etc.
Now if I update my XFCE computer, XFCE updates would be downloaded from official repos, but CUPS and kernel would be downloaded from my KDE computer.
Then I update my server and pacman picks up CUPS and kernel on either KDE or XFCE computer.

Is there an easy way to share packages amongst local network computer?

(Sorry if this has already been discussed, I haven't been able to find such topic on this forum.)

Great! Exactly what I've been looking for! Funny though, I've been to Xyne's website 2 days ago, but didn't notice this one...

Thanks xdeusx.

Thanks xdeusx.

Xyne develops new programs every 6.5 minutes. You must be quicker to keep up.

I searched the forum and discover he wrote pkgd one month ago. Dedicated thread does not seem very active, though.

I guess pkgd (which I haven't tested yet, but I'm about to) deserves more publicity. Maybe in the next newsletter? It's been mentioned in unofficial archlinux newsletter, but the latter is no longer online...

I'd like Xyne to become a TU and his stuff end up in the repos. That would generate plenty of visibility.

It'd be even better, indeed.
In the meantime I'll update the wiki to advertise his work.

Pkgd thread is not very active, because pkgd works as expected smile
I would also like to see Xyne as a TU.
