Firefox Update Overwrites Settings

Did an update today and new Firefox version overwrote all my configurations (about:config, start page, etc.) and added the default bookmarks.  I was thinking about filing a bug report but just wanted to see if anyone else actualyl experienced the same problem...

There were no problems here.

Looks like the update did set up a totally new session. What does the profile manager (firefox -ProfileManager) tell?
Do you have multiple profiles in ~/.mozilla/firefox?

BTW: I found it handy to keep a backup of this folder. Just in case.
