floppy problems

I'm trying to copy the contents of some old floppy disks.

[root@luke-desktop Trash]# tar cf - * | ( cd /tmp/; tar xfp -)
tar: CH4/Ast413: File shrank by 7680 bytes; padding with zeros
tar: CH4/Ast415: File shrank by 36352 bytes; padding with zeros

[root@luke-desktop Trash]# cp -r * /tmp/
cp: reading `CH4/Ast413': Input/output error

dmesg:

Floppy drive(s): fd0 is 1.44M
FDC 0 is a post-1991 82077
hfs: filesystem was not cleanly unmounted, running fsck.hfs is recommended. mounting read-only.

I can't seem to find any form of fsck.hfs:

[root@luke-desktop ~]# fsck /dev/fd0
fsck 1.41.3 (12-Oct-2008)
fsck: fsck.hfs: not found

Is there anyway of getting the files off? Or fixing the disk?

Thanks.

Re: floppy problems

Thanks, do you know what this means?

fsck 1.41.3 (12-Oct-2008)
** /dev/fd0
** Checking HFS volume.
Warning... fsck.hfs for device /dev/fd0 exited with signal 11.

# man fsck.hfs
No manual entry for fsck.hfs

[edit] right its a problem with 64bit linux!!!
[edit2] 32bit chroot ...

But I've still go a I/O error on those files, but I am totally over it.
