I did a pacman upgrade this afternoon, while transfering some files to my GPS. Pacman upgraded to the newest kernel, but it hung during the "parsing [autodetect]" section (my trasnfer also hung). I figured that was bad, and when I restarted I was correct. I cannot boot into my kernel or fallback. It was a very long error, but it happened during the mounting fileysystems step of boot. I have a working windows partition on this computer, so I'm wondering what's the best way to fix it?

Follow this wiki page: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Kernel_Panics
Everytime i make something bad with kernel, this helps me ![]()
Edit: You don't have to use Arch CD for this, you can do the same from whatever LiveCD you like.

Check Wiki on Kernel Panics .
Sidenote :
it's a lot easier to troubleshoot windows using linux.
However, in case your linux partitions are ext2/ext3 you can try this :
On this site there is a windows driver for ext2 filesystem.
(ext3 partitions can be mounted as ext2, although you loose the journalling capabilities) .
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

First of all, DONT PANIC! My kernel failed on me two or three days ago, I followed that guide and it fixed, like a charm.
