HP OfficeJet 5500 Scanner function and XSane

Hello,
I can' t use the scanner function in HP OfficeJet 5500, since HPLIP can' t connect to the device (after the update) and if I try to setup new device in it, it just refreshes and nothing more. However, the printer, after setting it up in CUPS, works perfectly. Is there a way to make the scanner work with pure SANE system? Please, help!
