Stumpwm with laptop and external monitor

I've been using stumpwm exclusively on my laptop for the last few months. I've started doing more serious programming work lately and I'd like to be able to hook my laptop up to an external monitor every now and then. I can't quite find any tutorials on how to make stumpwm dynamically use two monitors. Also does each physical screen get treated as a separate virtual desktop?
