New to arch, coming from gentoo, sysinit problem

Hi there

Arch is running very fine on my workstation since a few weeks. Now I'm installing it on an older toshiba sattelite with PIII, 700MHz, 192MB Ram and 20GB harddisk. Because of resources, I decided to stay with cli. It only has to serve me music from the server and my recipes database in the kitchen. Possibly a calendar and an editor for the shopping list.

My problem is the difference between the gentoo and arch init system. Is there anywhere a comprehensive explanation about? My actual problem is wlan. I'm able to get everything working manually, but I think me a knot in the brain, how to set it up to connect to my router before anything else network-related, like nfs-mounts, starts up.

Appreciate any hint or link.

Dear mod, if you think, this is not really a newbie question, please move it to the appropriate region. Thank you.

Just put 'network' before any of the other network dependent daemons in rc.conf? (if you use rc.conf for your wlan. If you use netcfg or similar, then s/network/whatever/)

Some tips on tools for network management: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wir … rk_manager (I am currently using netcfg and I think it's a real nice tool.)

And a short introduction to how the daemons are handled in arch: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Daemons

Edit:
You might want to look at this to: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Rc.conf
