Every once in a while I get the below message popup when i either log into gnome or start an application, all settings revert to the default too. Anyone know how I can fix this?
Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'.
Without the GNOME settings manager running, some preferences may not take effect. This could indicate a problem with Bonobo, or a non-GNOME (e.g. KDE) settings manager may already be active and conflicting with the GNOME settings manager.
Thanks

I used to get this often when running VirtualBox. Try less ugly defaults in the text files ~/.gtkrc-2.0, ~/.fonts.conf, etc.---then it won't be a big deal when it craps out.
