Hi,
Does, in the Linux world, exist good speech recognition software (for dictating textes) capable of understanding german?
Thanks!

I don't know, but dragon naturally speaking iv'e heard is good for english, atleast. DNS works in some versions of wine, maybe even the latest, i haven't checked. See appdb.winehq.org

I'm pretty sure there is no such thing yet. Help change this by providing a voice sample at http://www.voxforge.org/. Also check out CMUSphinx and Julius.

voxforge collects data for building voice models since almost all the opensource ASR software come with "closed source" models or no model at all. Thousands of hours of speech are required to get a reasonable speech recognition, so the job is tedious.
check that, however:

Actually, everyone should donate his voice on voxforge. I just did it and it's easy and short. It makes sure that later on, speech recognition software trained with voxforge's data will at least recognize you properly
