mic on OSS4 not working
I moved from ALSA to OSS4. Sound quality is (or it's my imagination) better. But microphone not working. I use Skype, Audacity, ossrecord... still nothing. Ossinfo show three record devices, ossmix - all record volume up , no mute. Ossrecord -d device(1,2,3) records only silence.
Sorry for my language, thanks for any help ...

It too me a good while and lots of trial and error to get recording working with oss, you need to set the mode to input on the recording sources (maybe you are using and HD Audio codec, you didn't say). Also if you have an internal mic and you are trying to use and external one you may need to adjust the recording volume of the internal one to zero otherwise the two will interfere.
Here's my settings on ossxmix (yours will probably be different)
Also while testing try to keep your payback volume low because you may set things in a way it will have positive feedback and you will get a very loud playback volume.

It would also be helpful to know if it's a USB mic. Most USB microphones do not work with OSSv4. There are some exceptions though.

It's standard mic and I using HD Audio codec.
Thanks R00KIE. Your picture help me - I change my recording volume in other devices and mute some sources... I hear my voice.
Thansk for help.

This comes a bit late but here goes anyway, just in case someone stumbles upon looking for supported usb headsets under linux.
ID 046d:0a0b Logitech, Inc.
This is a Logitech usb headset that does work with OSS, on the box it says "PC Headset 960 USB". It used to work very well with alsa two when alsa refused to work properly with the sound controller + audio codec on my laptop.
