2009.02-core doesn't run hwd

Hey guys. I'm not sure if this is normal behavior, but the new Arch install disk (which has the necessary ext4 support) doesn't run hwd when I go to Configure System. It doesn't populate my MODULES= line in rc.conf and it doesn't ask me if I need support for booting for RAID and encryption. Now I know that I can go enable support for RAID and encryption in mkinitcpio.conf, but it was really nice when it populated my MODULES= line... what happened? Why was hwd removed? Am I doing something wrong? I might just end up using the old install disk...

hwd is obsolete (no longer under developpement). There's a good chance that it will even be removed from the repo.

Any good ideas how to populate the MODULES line in rc.conf? Is there going to be a replacement of some sort?

udev will load modules for you. An empty MODULES array is ok for most people.

That said, I'd hate to see hwd go away entirely, as it's my favorite method of generating a starter xorg.conf.

Which is generally also obsolete at this point, unless you have some special options you need to set.

Re: 2009.02-core doesn't run hwd

So why isn't it included in the new installer?

I have not been following up with the installers. What I know, hwd was never included.... its not in the core but extra repo.
