OS X in VirtualBox

Has anyone got leopard working in virtualbox? I'm considering switching my macbook to run arch with OS X emulated, if possible.

Re: OS X in VirtualBox

not in virtual box, but i've gotten both Tiger and Leopard to run in VMWare workstation (should work with server and player too). You have to use the Kalyway ISO to install it or find a torrent of a premade VMWare image,

Tiger runs great on my Celeron 480, but leopard is slow due to all the extra bling it comes with.  Depending on what you need OS-X for it might be best to just run arch in a VM or dual boot, Since you'll OS-X isnt really made with virtualization in mind. Personally I only have it around so i have something to look at when im trying to help mac users over the phone.

Re: OS X in VirtualBox

afaik, you cannot run macOS virtualised because it is very specific about the hardware it runs on.  (a friend couldn't get run macOS running in vmware while even his host was macOS).

Maybe times have changed by now, I don't know.

Re: OS X in VirtualBox

OS X is such a closed POS that it can't run properly under virtualization. Not without cracked versions, and even those don't run properly. Your best bet is having Arch as guest instead of host.

Re: OS X in VirtualBox

While OS X is indeed a closed POS, it can run on the PC (with a patched DVD to work without EFI or with some other stuff to emulate EFI on your PC), and can run in some virtual environments.

You mean 'cracked'.

I have heard that this works...

Haven't done it myself, I don't particularly like OSX.

Yes, let's stay with virtualization.

Re: OS X in VirtualBox

I don't want my linux to look like mac...I just need access to some mac-only apps that I need to run from time-to-time

Re: OS X in VirtualBox

There's a way to run os x in qemu on kvm, I'm going to try it shortly: http://d4wiki.goddamm.it/index.php/Howt … OSX_on_KVM

Re: OS X in VirtualBox

Scottish, I don't want an arguement, but I'm pretty positive running OS X on a PC is legal as long as you don't use a patched DVD and instead use an EFI emulator. That way, there's no violation of Apple's license agreement, as no OS files are modified. Store-bought CD, of course.

Anyways, there's no need to give links anyways. There are forums and wikis on running a Hackintosh, those have info on doing it virtually. Google will get you there. smile
