mouse wont clear screensaver

im using a ps/2 optical mouse on my home computer and a usb mouse on my work computer. both pc's have the same video card, an nvidia nvs 280 sd, home is agp and the one at work is pci (but might be agp, cant remember). both pc's are using the same nvidia driver from arch (96xx) and i have the xscreensaver package installed and i am using gnome and gdm

in my xorg.conf i have used both /dev/input/mouse and /dev/psaux with the same result on both computers. i also have zaxismapping set to "4 5". the problem is that when the screensaver kicks in i cannot clear it by moving the mouse (remember its optical). if i scroll the whell however it does clear and everything is fine.

heres the other thing, it only does this with gl screensavers and a few others. most of the 2d regular ones clear fine. is this a bug? i dont have a mouse with a ball in it so cant test that. any thoughts?
