eeePC 900A: Problem with tuchpad

Hello!
I've got a new eeePC 900A since monday.
Everything works perfectly, but the touchpad: sometimes when I raise the finger and then touch the pad again to move the cursor further, the cursor jumps back. Filmed it to let you understand better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGZzbQ5rlKA
It happens both on Xorg (either xserver 1.5 or 1.6,) and GPM and only on Arch default kernel (tried kernel-eee and an eeebuntu live: touchpad works fine on there, both on Xorg and GPM).

What could it be?

Why not use the custom kernel for eee?

It has got other problems, in my case the wired network card isn't working on there.
Since this was the only issue with the stock kernel, I prefer sticking to it.

Worked! Thanks! big_smile

hi,

maybe the patched kernel I suggest on the other thread will fix the bug (and allow you to configure it with synaptics)

Re: eeePC 900A: Problem with tuchpad

This issue is actually about moisture building up and then drying up on the touchpad. For some reason eeePCs are really sensitive to that. The only real solution I've found is to try to keep your fingers dry.
