Sound Starts Pumping Static

So, I will be sitting there listening to music / watching youtube / talking on skype and the song will change or I will open a new application that uses audio and all of a sudden my speakers start pumping static overtop of what I opened. The static is not constant, it pulses like the beat of a bass. I kill all the applications making sound and the pulse still continues. I kill alsa but the pulse continues. I restart x and the pulse stops.

This happens to me about once a day. Some times twice, some times not at all.

I have a Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer and I Installed the drivers via AUR. Has anyone heard of this problem or have a fix for it?

Re: Sound Starts Pumping Static

Are you using alsa or oss? Are there any errors or warnings in dmesg or any of the logs?

Re: Sound Starts Pumping Static

cp your card config from /usr/share/alsa/cards/ to .asoundrc .reboot(soundcards are weird). tell me if it works smile (obviously check mixer settings first etc)
