graphics card for htpc

i have recently been given a old compaq desktop machine with 512mb of ram (will be upgraded to 1,2Gb), 2,2Ghz P4 and a nvidia mx420 i am planning on converting this to a htpc it will be running a combination of arch+xbmc but i need a stronger graphics card i am down to 1 of these 2 cards:
Geforce 6200
the ups of this card is that it is a geforce card and i therefore knows it will work with little to no problems
and it is fanless
the downs are that i dont know is if this card can do h264 decoding on chip

Ati Radeon HD 3450
ups of this card is that has a on chip hd decoder
downs are that it is a radeon card so im not sure if it i can get it to work at all in linux nor if i can get the onboard hd decoder to work
this card has a fan

please note that due to the chassi and motherboard the cards need to be agp and "low profile" also i am not shopping from newegg it is just used for reference

Re: graphics card for htpc

You won't get GPU-accelerated HD video with any of those, or with any other AGP card.
