Hello. I need help editing a pdf file. I've gotten a pdf file that I'd like to be able to add details to be able get back. I'm able to open the pdf in Okular but I don't think Okular has the abilities to edit. I've tried to open the document in Gimp and Abiword and Gimp gives me "unknown filetype". When I try to open the pdf in Abiword, there's "Importing Document" in the lower lefthand corner but nothing happens. Possibly this is a newer pdf?? I've opened pdf files in Gimp before I'm pretty sure. Any thoughts on how i can edit the pdf?

Dang, funny I thought GIMP could open pdf files. I guess it's not compiled in on the Arch version. I tried pdfedit but could find no way to ADD text to the pdf. hmm inkscape, thats a good idea, but i already found a program called flpsed that worked. Thanks.

Just for clarity, if one has poppler-glib installed, GIMP can open PDF just fine. It's an optional dependency in Arch.

It can add text to pdf. Sorry I can't give more details - I have it installed in my other distro (ubuntu 8.04). Play around with the buttons- that's how I discovered that it can add text.
be careful, though - the files that I worked on always ended up as being corrupted after save. work on a copy of the file, and print it to cups-pdf to make sure you have a working edited copy.

Xournal + xournalannotation.patch is fast and lightweight solution.
Arch Linux + sway
Debian Testing + GNOME/sway
NetBSD 64-bit + Xfce

Good tips. Glad to know I have some options. Added poppler-glib and now GIMP can edit PDF's, good to know hadn't come by that before.
