So, I know it seems odd registering and posting on the same day, but it doesn't look like anyone is having this problem. I have a Dell Inspiron 1501, and so far it's worked like a charm, except when I try to do the above command (pacman -S catalyst for those with a short attention span ) Instead of downloading and installing the catalyst package, like the wiki, and everyone else seems to say, I get a very lovely error:
catalyst package not found, searching for group...
error 'catalyst' : not found in sync db
I've tried everything in an attempt to get the damn ati drivers, but nothing is working. And the only reason I'm doing it is so I can boot using vga=864 in the grub line no other reason. If someone can explain to me WHY the sync db is out of date with what is in the AUR repos, and why pacman is afraid of the delicious drivers located within I would REALLY appreciate it.

Edit: nm, it's gone atm, look in aur instead.

That is because Arch recently pulled the catalyst driver off the official Arch repos. Due to it's (lack of) development.

You can still get it from Yaourt/AUR if you really want it.
